Brownie Cookie

The hint of orange makes us think of those chocolate orange slices so many enjoy during the holidays -- now enjoy it all year long!

Change it up and make a batch of these cookies instead of a pan of brownies.

Ingredients
  1. 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter
  2. 5 oz (150 g) chopped semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
  3. 2/3 cup (150 mL) packed light brown sugar
  4. 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
  5. 1/2 tsp (2 mL) grated orange zest
  6. 2 large eggs
  7. 1 ¼ cups (300 mL) all-purpose flour
  8. Pinch salt
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, combine butter, chocolate and brown sugar and melt over low heat until smooth and combined. Whisk in vanilla and orange zest. Let cool slightly.
  2. Whisk in eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Add flour and salt; stir well until combined. 3 Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Using a mini ice-cream scoop, or heaping tablespoon (15 mL), scoop out mixture onto prepared pan. Bake for about 8 minutes or until top is just set. Let cool on pan on rack.
  4. Makes about 16 cookies
